Producing
Unsurprisingly I don’t have lots of fun pictures to put here- so you’ll have to make do with words instead.
When creating and producing, I’m the person with all the ideas who can just make it happen. You can trust me to capture what’s needed whatever the situation; I’m a make-it-work kind of person. I’m comfortable, or I daresay happiest, when leading a team or being trusted to deliver a specific outcome- I’m creative and fun and I’m best in live/time restricted situations.
My experience so far…
Freelance Broadcast Journalist- BBC Radio Stoke October 2023-Current
Pulling together a live all-speech weekly sports show alongside an assistant producer which includes: idea generation, structuring the show, scripting, editing, booking guests and making live decisions.
Producing specialist podcasts including ‘The Traitors Re-united’.
Reporting at live football games, finding and briefing guests and delivering regular live content.
Freelance Producer- Mags Creative From 2022
Working for podcast agency Mags Creative on a project by project bases including concepting, pitch creation, writing, researching, editing and guest sourcing. Examples include the podcasts ‘Blended’, ‘Partners In Crime’, ‘It can’t just be me’ and ‘Today with Tonies’.
Freelance Recording Producer- Pineapple Audio 2023
Producing during recordings of podcasts for ‘Smut Drop’.
Breakfast show producer- Bauer Media 2017-2019
Producing and directing daily 4-hour live shows for Free Radio, both in studio and outside broadcasts (Birmingham/Black Country & Shropshire/Hereford & Worcester). This role included (but was not limited to!) managing on-air talent and high profile guests, generating content, planning and structuring all shows with a clear audience in mind, editing and making decisions under intense time pressures and balancing commercial commitments with entertainment.
Additionally, each year I would manage presenters, on-stage and radio content amongst high-profile artists at our live music event- Free Radio Live.
Sports show producer- Bauer Media 2017-2019
Producing an ‘as-live’ weekly sports show and then podcast that covered all local football teams (Aston Villa/Birmingham City/West Bromwich Albion/Wolverhampton Wanderers/Coventry City). This included generating ideas and content, planning the show, recording with a co-host and editing.
Broadcast Journalist- BBC Radio Derby 2017
Producing a range of shows and outside broadcasts across the schedule (Mid-Morning show with Sally Pepper/Afternoon show with Andy Twigge/Breakfast with Ian Skye/Weekends). This role included: generating content ideas, researching, planning, editing, writing scripts, managing talent and high-profile guests and making live decisions.
Assistant Producer- BBC Radio Derby 2016
I started at BBC Radio Derby after persistently trying to convince the editor to let me do work experience- I was declined multiple times but after eventually turning up on the doorstep they agreed to let me do 2 weeks and I never left… (Until I did)
During this time I assisted producers and learnt the skills used in the above role as Broadcast Journalist.
